The Fish Living In The Glass Reef

 

I've put together some information and pictures of the fish I keep in my display tank. There is no special order.

 

Starry Blenny  (Salarias ramosus)

  • Family: Blenniidae
  • Origin: Cebu
  • Color: White, Yellow, Dark Brown, Maroon
  • Max. Size: 5½"
  • Care Level: Easy
  • Diet: Herbivore
  • Temperament: Peaceful
  • Reef Compatible: Yes
  • Water Conditions: 75-82° F, pH 8.0-8.4, SG 1.022-1.025, dKH 8-11
  • Minimum Tank Size: 40 gallons

I love this guy. He's like the jester of the tank.


 

Flame Hawk Fish  (Neocirrhitus armatus)

  • Family:Cirrhitidae
  • Origin: Fiji
  • Color: Red with black at base of dorsal fin, around eyes, and end of pectoral fins
  • Max. Size: 4"
  • Care Level: Easy
  • Diet: Meaty foods - frozen, flake, pellets
  • Temperament: Semi-aggressive
  • Reef Compatible: Mostly
  • Water Conditions: 76-81° F, pH 8.0-8.4, SG 1.022-1.025, dKH 8-11
  • Minimum Tank Size: 40 gallons

The Flame Hawk Fish has loads of personality. He surveys his territory from atop his favorite perch.



True Percula Clownfish  ((Amphiprion percula))

  • Family: Pomacentridae>
  • Origin: Most parts of the South Pacific
  • Color: Orange, Black, White
  • Max. Size: 2-3/4"
  • Care Level: Easy
  • Diet: Omnivore
  • Temperament: Peaceful
  • Reef Compatible: Yes
  • Water Conditions: 74-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, sg 1.022-1.025
  • Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons

This female Percula comes from ORA brood stock. Very interesting markings!


Here's the male and female together. As is normal with clownfish, the male is the much smaller of the pair.
